Slovak naïve painters in UNESCO
Naïve painting practices of Kovačica were added into the UNESCO Representative list of intangible cultural heritage on Wednesday, 4 December, 2024. According to its website: “Practitioners are self-taught and use oil paint in bright hues in their work. An identifying factor, the practice is a means of transmitting the cultural heritage and history of the Slovak community in Serbia.”

Judaism exhibition in Presov saved
After the Judaism items exhibition in Presov was temporarily closed, the news broke out that it will be open as of the beginning of the New Year. The town of Presov in co-operation with the Jewish community takes over the management and operation of the institution. As a professional guarantor, Slovak National Museum will provide training for the new lecturer and sell display cases to the town of Presov, eastern Slovakia.

Katarina Malikova performing at Consulate General in New York
Iconic Slovak singer Katarína Máliková is set to perform at the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in New York on 5 December. With her music which has been regularly on the KEXP radio playlists, she will help to launch Ivan Lesay’s book “The Topography of Pain“ in English translation provided by Jonathan Gresty.
