In 2019, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, a conference on the evolution of Slovak literature was held in London. Since the 2019 conference, its main organiser Julia Sherwood has received two prestigious honors: the Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav Award, which recognizes foreign translators who bring Slovak literature to international audiences, and the 2023 Minister of Culture Award for her long-term and exceptional contributions to the arts. Since 2019, the number of Slovak authors published in English has grown, partly thanks to the SLOLIA grant program managed by the Slovak Literary Centre.
