Foreign museums withdrawn from joint exhibition with SNG

On Thursday, the Mining and Gothic Museum in Leogang, Austria, and the State Art Collections in Dresden, Germany, have announced that they are withdrawing from their agreed collaboration with the Slovak National Gallery on the touring international exhibition “Red Gold - Miracle from the Spania Valley”.

The exhibition, which had already taken place in Austria and was to continue in Bratislava, was scheduled and announced for March. 

However, the Austrian museum and the German collections are afraid to move their valuable exhibition objects to Bratislava and entrust them to the Slovak National Gallery. Two-thirds of the SNG staff are to submit their re including the experts who are supposed to take care of the exhibits. The gallery has a top management "without sufficient expertise".

"Unfortunately, international standards for the exhibition are no longer guaranteed," they wrote in a letter to SNG management on Thursday.
