Every year more and more shortwave broadcasters are reducing or cancelling their shortwave services, however proponents of shortwave are confident that this transmission medium still enjoys a listener base of hundreds of millions around the world. So what is its future, what problems are still to overcome, and what new shortwave technologies are around the corner? Gavin Shoebridge attended the recent High Frequency Coordination Conference (HFCC) in Bratislava to find out what the future holds.
