As of Monday, October the 5th until further notice all offices of the Slovak Foreign Police will handle ONLY applicants who have an online appointment. The only exception are "special and humanitarian cases" but these have to have the approval of the head of the particular Department of the Foreign Police.
The Foreign Police ask foreigners whose permit is to expire soon not to panic if they don't manage to obtain an appointment to submit an application for renewal of residence. Based on the amendment to Act no. 73/2020 on the stay of foreigners in Slovakia, the validity of any temporary stay, permanent stay or tolerated stay that would otherwise expire during an emergency declared in connection with COVID-19 is AUTOMATICALLY EXTENDED. This means that it is possible to book any next available date for applying for renewal of residence, even after its expiry date. The state of emergency was declared in Slovakia on October 1st for a period of 45 days.
