€1,659 for no face mask

The Public Health Office can impose a fine of up to €1,659 and the police up to €1,000 for the failure to comply with the duty to wear a face mask or observe home isolation, according to measures approved by the Public Health Office to slow down the spread of COVID-19. The maximum penalty for the failure to observe restrictions concerning the organisation of public events has been set at €20,000. "If the regional health offices resort to fines, they have been instructed to impose the penalties proportionately to the situation - to take into account the gravity, manner, duration and illegal corollary of the behaviour when determining the amount of the fine," Marek Elias of the Public Health Office press department told TASR.

Due to the worsening situation regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, Slovakia has shut down as of Thursday all swimming pools, aquaparks, wellness facilities, gyms, theatres, cinemas and other theatrical, music or artistic events and performances. All public events of any kind with more than six participants have also been banned.
