Lockdown costs Slovakia €1 billion

Finance Minister Eduard Heger (OLaNO) claimed on Monday after a session of the Government that the hard lockdown that is currently in place in the country has and will cost Slovakia €1 billion. Heger explained that the figure is a result of calculations made by his ministry, which predicts that the country will enter a "safe zone" vis-a-vis the spread of coronavirus at the start of March. Following the second wave of the pandemic, he noted that while it is important to fight for people's health, it is also necessary to fight for the health of the economy.
