Health Authority sequencing COVID 19 positive samples

Public Health Authority (UVZ) labs have started to sequence coronavirus-positive samples. It plans to sequence at least 96 coronavirus-positive samples per week from various parts of Slovakia, with the maximum reaching three times that figure. Chief hygienist Jan Mikas informed that data needs to be sent not only to the national, but also to the European system.
The Science Park of Comenius University in Martin and the Zvolen-based Veterinary Institute should join the process of sequencing soon. The capacity might thus increase to 1,000 coronavirus-positive samples sequenced per week. Labs that have been already engaged in sequencing were the Biomedicine Centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) and the Science Park of Comenius University in Bratislava.
