Registration for COVID-19 booster shots launched for general public

Registration for the third shot against COVID-19 has been launched for the general public, Health Ministry spokeswoman Zuzana Eliasova reported on Tuesday, adding that booster shots are recommended especially for people over 55 who received their second shot at least six months ago.

Previously, registration was open only for high risk groups, such as people with compromised immunity.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Eduard Heger on Wednesday called on people over the age of 50 to be vaccinated against COVID-19, pointing out that the unvaccinated are the more likely to end up in hospital and that vaccination is verifiably the best protection against disease.
