Vaccination rate reaches 50 percent

More than 50 per cent of the population in Slovakia has been vaccinated with at least the first dose. Health Minister Vladimir Lengvarsky (an OLaNO nominee) stated this on Wednesday, adding that if we look in detail at the vaccination numbers of people aged 18 and over, it can be stated that "more than six out of ten Slovaks are vaccinated". People who cannot be vaccinated against COVID-19 for medical reasons will be given a certificate of exemption from their GPs and complimentary PCR tests. In this case, the PCR tests will be carried out free of charge. Meanwhile, the Government decided on Wednesday that Slovakia will be able to sell 200,000 doses of the Comirnaty vaccine from the Pfizer/BioNTech consortium to Denmark in January 2022. The reason for the move is the deteriorating situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in the Scandanavian country.
