The state budget recorded a deficit of €3.9 billion by the end of June, a 62 percent increase year-on-year, according to a Finance Ministry report released on Thursday. The deficit even exceeded the figure projected for the whole year (€2.8 billion). "Negative developments were seen in revenues from VAT (down €391.5 million), corporate income tax (down €319.3 million), excise tax (down €67.6 million), private individuals' income tax (down €44.5 million) and in withholding tax (up 6.5 million)," said the ministry in its report. Conversely, positive developments were recorded for other taxes on goods and services (up €18.7 million). Incoming funds from the EU budget went up by €30 million year-on-year in June.
