The number of unemployment benefit recipients in Slovakia in June compared to May this year soared by almost 14,000. While in May this year the benefit was paid to 50,132 unemployed, last month it was already 64,111 unemployed. "This is the highest number of recipients of unemployment benefits per month since 2004," said the spokesman for the social security agency Socialna Poistovna Peter Visvader. According to him, growth in the number of insureds receiving unemployment benefits is also clear from a comparison of the same period in previous years. In June of last year, 35,271 people were receiving unemployment benefits, up from 32,566 a year earlier.
