Economic sentiment indicator falls slightly in December

The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) fell slightly again in December 2020, going down by 0.7 percentage points, the Statistics Office reported on Monday. Confidence has significantly increased in services and moderately in trade and among consumers, while a minuscule growth has been recorded in construction. Conversely, trust has slumped in industry. The confidence indicator in services has increased rapidly after seasonal adjustments, by 12.3 points month-on-month following respondents' positive expectations regarding the business situation and demand. They have been slightly more optimistic in expectations regarding unemployment, the overall economic situation, the financial situation of households and households' savings.
