Daniela Hantuchová bids farewell to her career in grand fashion

One of Slovakia's best tennis players ever, Daniela Hantuchová, played the final singles match of her career in an exhibition event against former world number 1 Kim Clijsters on Wednesday evening in Bratislava. A tearful Hantuchová teamed up with dancers and even two ice hockey players during the match. Fellow tennis players Dominik Hrbaty and Tommy Haas joined in the doubles match in front of a National Tennis Centre full of spectators. Over the course of her career, Hantuchová, a former world no 5 player, won 7 singles titles, was an Australian Open semi-finalist in 2008 and also reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon and the US Open. She is also a record holder when it comes to the number of ties played for Slovakia in the FedCup which she won in 2002. This year after a rib injury she announced her retirement in July. In an interview for the website of the WTA she said that she was starting to focus on her own business and hopes to start a family when she meets the man of her life. As well as a protein bar business, Daniela would not shy away from spending time as a tennis TV commentator.
