The Chairman of the Slovak National Party and Speaker of Parliament Andrej Danko continues his state visit to Berlin. He met his counterpart in the Bundestag and former Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble. For twenty years, Germany has been Slovakia's most important business partner. Danko summed up his discussions on Wednesday: "We spoke about the ways in which we could boost turnouts in European parliamentary elections. For us, Germans offer motivation in the sphere of a harmonised state budget. Further, Mr. Schäuble is a friend of Slovakia who helped the country a lot with its access to the Schengen Area and Eurozone."
The Bundestag chief, Wolfgang Schäuble, confirmed that there is a meeting of the heads of national parliaments set up for next week in Tallinn. Schäuble stressed that though the work of governments cannot be substituted, parliamentarians have to be active and contribute towards making cooperation effective.
