Slovakia and its companies could be part of a consortium that will reconstruct the gas pipeline going through Ukraine, Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) said after a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Groysman. Slovakia hopes that the improved quality of the pipeline will prevent its being replaced by the Nord Stream 2 project. The Slovak prime minister stated that it's important that Ukraine develops and its standard of living improves, adding that this will also contribute to the development of eastern Slovakia. The Ukrainian premier described the negotiations as "productive and very concrete".
