Slovakia will not reach the play-off stage at the 2019 Ice Hockey World Championship. Despite a series of victorious matches, when the Slovaks defeated France 6:3 on Friday and Team GB 7:1 on Saturday, all hopes were lost after Team USA defeated Germany 3:1 on Sunday evening. This means that the four teams that will go through to the quarterfinals from the Košice B group are Canada, USA, Finland and Germany. Slovakia has not managed to reach the play-off stage of the tournament since 2013. If Slovakia wins its last match against Denmark in 60 minutes, it will create a sad record - it will be the first team with 12 points not to advance to the quarterfinals since the start of the current format of the World Championship in 2012.
