824 foreigners want to vote in Slovakia in EP elections

A total of 824 citizens of other EU member states want to cast their ballot in Slovakia in the coming European Parliament elections to take place on Saturday, according to the Slovak Ministry of Interior. Those who wish to do so were obliged to register as voters in their locality of residence in Slovakia by April 15th. The largest group of foreigners registered to vote in Slovakia on Saturday are from the Czech Republic, namely 264 people, followed by 122 Polish citizens and 118 Hungarians. EU citizens can cast their ballot in only one member state and choose among the candidates running for that particular state. In Slovakia's case, voters will choose 14 MEPs, but one of them will take up his mandate only after the UK's departure from the European Union.
