A growing number of Slovak tourists wish to explore Slovakia, said the Tourism Association President Marek Harbulák. Moreover, their vacationing habits are changing, as Slovaks begin to plan their holidays more in advance. "This trend is evident mostly in the top summer and winter seasons, when some hotels are sold out months in advance," claimed Harbulák. According to him, the future of tourism in Slovakia will mostly hinge on two factors. "Whether we'll be able to create such conditions for businesses so as to make their services competitive with other European countries, particularly our neighbors. And the second one is whether we'll prove able to present Slovakia as an interesting vacationing destination," said Harbulák. This May, almost 330,000 Slovaks visited destinations in Slovakia, representing a year-on-year growth of 17.6 %. The transport Ministry expects Slovak tourism to break records this summer with the number of visitors growing steadily for the fourth consecutive year.
