New US Ambassador to Slovakia holds first meetings

Bridget Brink, the new US Ambassador to Slovakia paid an initial visit to Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák (a Smer-SD nominee) on Monday. At their meeting, Brink and Lajčák agreed that cooperation between Bratislava and Washington is at a very good level. "The USA isn't only a strategic partner for Slovakia but also a good friend and reliable ally," stated Lajčák, adding that it is important to preserve and deepen transatlantic relations and cooperation at the EU-USA level. On Tuesday, Ambassador Brink met the Slovak president Zuzana Čaputová. US President Donald Trump nominated Bridget Brink for the post of US Ambassador to Slovakia in March. The Senate later approved her nomination. She replaced Adam Sterling, who had been in the post since 2016.
