Health and Finance Ministries have agreed to allocate extra €90 million to the healthcare sector by the end of this year, the former announced on Tuesday. "The additional amount obtained by increasing the percentage paid from the state coffers for state policyholders will be used exclusively to cover the provision of health care," said Health Minister Andrea Kalavská, adding that her ministry has prepared a memorandum to be signed by all three health insurance companies, the Association of Hospitals, the Association of State Hospitals, as well as representatives of outpatient health care providers. An increase in the percentage paid for state policyholders such as unemployed, pensioners, or parents on parental leave should be approved by MPs in October. Representatives of health insurance companies, providers and patient organizations had earlier requested €150 million in extra funding for the sector.
