A new successful project of a modern nuclear power plant in Europe is needed to show the benefits of this type energy to the public and politicians, according to the European Commission Vice-president for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič. "We need it to convince everyone who's claiming that nuclear power plants have become too expensive and it takes too much time to construct them, while the amount of financial investment in launching a nuclear power plant is unclear," he said. Several nuclear power plant blocks are currently being built in Europe, but new security regulations have made their construction more expensive than expected.
