New quarantine facilities needed to resume repatriation process

Foreign Affairs Ministry stopped accepting applications for repatriation of Slovaks from abroad as of midnight on April 2. This is mainly due to the insufficient capacities at the Slovak quarantine centres. According to Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Klus (Freedom and Solidarity) in order to resume the process of repatriating Slovaks from abroad, there is a need to increase the capacities of the accommodation facilities. "We believe that we'll find these free capacities at the level of the regions as well as the Defence and Interior Ministries," said Klus, noting that some 3,100 people are still waiting to be repatriated. Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď (OĽaNO) stated in this regard that his ministry's five facilities are currently housing 600 repatriated people. "They're constantly coming and leaving," he said, explaining that when a person has spent enough time in quarantine and then tests negative for COVID-19, they leave and are replaced by a newly repatriated person after the unit is disinfected.
