Retail revenues post record drop of 14.3 percent Y-o-Y in April

Retail revenues posted a record fall of 14.3 percent year-on-year in April 2020, the Slovak Statistics Office reported on Thursday. Revenues in domestic trade were highly influenced by coronavirus-related measures in April. The closure of tourist facilities, restaurants and outlets offering goods other than food was a significant factor in the drop in revenues in all main activities concerning domestic trade. However, the situation differed according to individual retail activities, with some groups of retailers reporting huge decreases in revenues and others significant y-o-y increases. The most significant drop was reported by retailers selling other goods in specialised outlets, with revenues going down by 30.7 percent y-o-y in April.
