Austria opens borders with neighbours, excluding Italy

On Thursday, Austria lifted its border restrictions for the surrounding countries, not including Italy in the decision. Based on the decision of the Austrian Foreign Ministry, the country will no longer require coronavirus tests from people crossing its borders. However, the border on the Slovak side remains. Therefore, people with residence in Slovakia can travel to Austria for 48 hours and return without having to provide a negative coronavirus test or undergo a mandatory two-week quarantine. To be able to do this, the police must stamp a confirmation form (to be found on the Foreign Ministry website). For those who stay longer in Austria, a test or quarantine upon return is still required.
