In a joint statement on plagiarism signed by 22 student associations and organisations, students have called on politicians to accept personal responsibility and to prepare new mechanisms to detect academic fraud, said Ema Petriková, vice-chair for public relations of the Student University Council of the Centre for Scientific and Technical Information. The students also called on universities to be allowed to withdraw their academic degrees if it turns out that serious mistakes have been made. They reacted to Speaker of Parliament Boris Kollár (We Are Family) facing suspicions of plagiarising his diploma thesis.
