Feud among coalition partners shows via social networks

"Junior governing party Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) should find a worthier leader and replace First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Richard Sulík", said Prime Minister Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) on Monday. Matovič was commenting on Sulík's decision to walk out of a Central Crisis Management Team session on Sunday due to what the latter described as imminent decisions to damage businesses without sufficient data on how coronavirus spreads. Both members of the government engaged in an argument on their public social media profiles. Informatisation Minister Veronika Remišová (For the People) said on Monday that the coalition leaders should seek a compromise instead of politicking and reminded Sulík that the crisis can only be overcome with unity and solidarity. At the same time, she stressed that affected businesses must be properly compensated. On Sunday, Sulík complained via social media that none of the pandemic expects had provided exact data regarding the proposed restrictions on businesses. "We don't know how many of the infected people regularly visit fitness centres, theatres, restaurants," said the minister. In reaction to the remark by Matovič, the Economy Minister said that the Freedom and Solidarity party does not intend to change its leadership at the moment.
