Change to mass testing schedule causes huge problems for Mayors

The sudden decision to shorten the first round of mass testing in Slovakia by one day has caused massive problems for those who are responsible for the preparation of the event, a representative of the Towns and Villages Association (ZMOS), Lukaš Banacky, stated on Monday. Mass-testing for the novel coronavirus of all inhabitants older than 10 - foreigners included - will take place this coming Saturday and Sunday, but not also on Friday as originally planned, the Central Crisis Committee decided on Monday

"Even though it means we'll have an extra day to prepare for the event, those who'll be deployed to carry out the testing will have to deliver an enormous performance, as they'll probably have to work 17-hour shifts on both Saturday and Sunday," stated Banacky. Meanwhile, the mayor of the Bratislava borough of Ružinov, Martin Chren, pointed to the fact that because of the change, his borough will now have to set up approximately 110 sites for taking samples instead of the originally planned 70.
