Committee okays all 7 candidates for Prosecutor-General

The parliamentary constitutional and legislative committee, after the conclusion of public hearings late on Monday, okayed the bids of all seven candidates for Prosecutor-General - prosecutors Jozef Čentéš, Tomáš Honz, Ján Hrivnák, Rastislav Remeta, Ján Šanta and Maroš Žilinka, and judge Juraj Kliment. A new prosecutor-general should be elected by Parliament at a session that starts on Tuesday afternoon. The Prosecutor-General is appointed to the office by the Slovak President for a 7-year mandate. The election of a new Prosecutor-General comes at a time of investigations into allegations of high level corruption in the law enforcement agencies and courts.
