Monuments to be lit red in global call for religious freedom

Bratislava Castle and the SNP Bridge in the capital, and ten other monuments elsewhere in Slovakia, will be illuminated red on Wednesday evening, with Slovakia thus joining the Red Wednesday international campaign commemorating people persecuted or suffering for their faith, 70 percent of whom are Christians, announced the organisation Aid to the Church in Need.

From 6 pm, 12 monuments will be illuminated red in Slovakia, including Bratislava Castle and the SNP Bridge, St. Elizabeth's Cathedral in Košice, St. Martin's Cathedral in Spišská Kapitula, St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Trnava, St. Nicholas' Basilica in Trnava, St. Emeram in Nitra, the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Žilina, the Basilica on Mariánská hora in Levoča, the Church of St. Martin in Trstená, the Church of All Saints in Ludrová and the statue of Christ in the village of Klin.
