Women exposed to domestic violence always have someone to turn for help, be it close ones or professional organisations, President Zuzana Čaputová stated on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. This was observed on Wednesday. This year, the Slovak President initiated a collaboration between the Justice Ministry, Police Corps and experts from a non-profit sector. The outcome was the drafting of a legislative change aimed to open new help centres in every region to provide legal, psychological and social help to victims of violence. In a show of solidarity with the victims of violence, the Presidential Palace was illuminated with orange lights as of Tuesday (November 24). The orange colour is the symbol of the UN global campaign #orangetheworld, aimed to eliminate violence against girls and women.
