Slovak politicians condemn the mob attack on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová on Wednesday night expressed her concerns about what happened in Washington, D.C., when supporters of US President Donald Trump stormed the seat of the American Congress, the Capitol. She wrote via social media, that "the scenes from the US Capitol show how dangerous the rhetoric of hatred is". Prime Minister Igor Matovič concurred, saying that violence is never justified. "The Capitol is a symbol of democracy. Its law-making function must be respected in all circumstances. That's what the rule of law is about," Matovič wrote on a social network. Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Korčok expects US institutions to deal with the situation in the spirit of the rule of law. "The responsibility is in the hands of President Trump," added the minister in his statement.
