Foreign Minister on digital and green transformations

Foreign Minister Ivan Korcok had discussions on Thursday in Paris with the new general secretary of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Mathias Cormann. Korcok emphasised that digital and green transformations, and their influence on the post-pandemic recovery, are among Slovak priorities in this organisation. He added that Slovakia is prepared to cooperate on the main themes that the new general secretary of the OECD presented as the priorities for his term of office, which started on June 1 at a session of the Ministerial Council of the OECD under the chairmanship of the USA.
"Post-pandemic recovery, digital and green transformations and their influence on society and the competitiveness of our economy, achieving agreement on digital and global taxation, and a general improvement of people's quality of life, are fields where Slovakia will continue to engage with the OECD", declared Korcok after his meeting with Cormann.
He also appreciated the OECD's contribution to the setting of international standards and the importance of its expertise for planning the recovery after the crisis. He also invited his partner in the discussions to visit Slovakia on the occasion of the Economic Review of the Slovak Republic and the Tatrasummit which will discuss this topic.
The OECD is marking its 60th anniversary this year. On this occasion, the adoption of a new declaration on the vision of this organisation and its strategy for global relations is expected at the autumn session of the Ministerial Council of the OECD (7-8 October). Foreign Ministry reported that the active participation of Slovakia in fulfilling the main philosophy of the organisation remains one of the priorities of Slovak foreign policy.
