The savings of half of Slovak households are lower than their monthly incomes, according to a survey carried out by the STEM/MARK agency for the company Home Credit in early June. The savings of one third of Slovaks do not exceed €400. Conversely, 14 percent of Slovaks have savings amounting to at least €12,000.
Around 42 percent of the respondents declared a drop in their household savings since the beginning of last year, with one quarter of them noting a significant drop. Two thirds of Slovaks lost savings of up to €800 during the pandemic, while some 16 percent of Slovaks lost savings of at least €3,200.
