Increasing vaccination could be motivated by lottery

"The pandemic hasn't ended in Slovakia yet, the rate of vaccination against novel coronavirus must rise to higher numbers", Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OĽaNO) stated on Wednesday following the Government meeting. According to Health Analysis Institute head Matej Mišík, the epidemic situation in Slovakia is steadily improving, however only 22 percent of Slovaks, i.e. a little under 1.2 mil people are fully vaccinated. Health Minister Vladimir Lengvarský (an OĽaNO nominee) admitted that a lottery could be used as motivation for the inoculated. The government discussed also possible material rewards or other forms of financial contribution or some lottery for the vaccinated. As for the unused doses of the Sputnik V vaccine, Slovakia might either sell or give its unused doses to the Western Balkan countries. According to the minister, people will be able to enrol for the Russian vaccine until June 30. There are currently 5,898 people waiting for the Russian-made jab in the electronic waiting room.
