Bratislava Mayor Matus Vallo, together with the mayors of the other V4 capitals (Prague, Budapest, Warsaw), associated in the Pact of Free Cities, held an online discussion with U.S. congresspersons. During a hearing with members of the Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber, they provided an overview of their work in promoting democracy and law enforcement in Central Europe. As Vallo stated in his address, the city of Bratislava is striving for building people’s trust in public institutions through transparency, quality and accessible services and sensitive communication, especially during the current COVID-19 pandemic. "When governments fail, the protection of democratic values passes to local government, and their leaders," stated the head of the Bratislava local government.
