PM Heger believes Croatia will not block Sweden's and Finland's Accession into NATO

Prime Minister Eduard Heger said on Thursday that he firmly believes that the Croatian Government and Croatian President Zoran Milanovic will find common ground and their country will not block the accession of Finland and Sweden into NATO. "The Croatians certainly remember their accession into the European Union, which had to be approved by every member state, including Sweden and Finland," the prime minister noted, remarking that Slovakia was very committed to the Croats at that time. "Sweden and Finland are very welcome candidates for membership in the Alliance," Heger stated. According to Foreign Minister Ivan Korčok, both countries share democratic values and are ready to take on the obligations of membership in the Alliance. "I will propose to the Government, Parliament and the President a rapid ratification of both countries' accession to NATO. Finland and Sweden's membership in the Alliance will strengthen the security and defence of Slovakia and the entire Euro-Atlantic area," added Korcok.
