The Slovak Prosecutor General's Office has expressed interest in participating in the
investigative team looking into war crimes in Ukraine, according to the institution’s
spokeswoman Jana Tökölyová. Already in March, a prosecutor of the Office opened criminal
proceedings in connection with the war in Ukraine for particularly serious crimes. The step was
taken in cooperation with the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine and the European Union
Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation. This European body coordinates the collection of
information and the prosecution process in each country. The purpose of criminal proceedings is to document evidence of war crimes, especially from refugees who may have been direct
witnesses and victims.
