Parliament on Wednesday overrode President Zuzana Caputova's veto and passed a new law on the financing of children's leisure time. MPs approved the law in its original wording, thus rejecting the president's comments. Under the law, children from five to 18 years of age will receive a monthly amount of €60 for their leisure activities. The Education and Culture Ministries are due to prepare a list of approved leisure activities for which the contribution can be used. The amount of the tax bonus will also be adjusted depending on the age of the child. The president had previously vetoed sections of the bill, claiming that they did not meet the criteria for a fast-tracked legislative procedure, and also that the legislation could have a negative impact on economic stability and the functioning of local governments.
