Prime Minister on sustainable energy sources

Nuclear energy and gas will probably be sustainable sources of energy in the interim, Prime Minister Eduard Heger has stated ahead of Wednesday's vote on the matter in the European Parliament. According to the premier, the vote will be crucial for Slovakia's national interests. He also stressed the intensification of the green transformation. Although the threat of gas shortages is forcing some EU-member states to revert to coal, Heger assets that this deviation must be as short as possible and mustn't slow down green transition efforts. "Slovakia has the option to avoid a return to coal thanks precisely to nuclear energy," he noted. Heger also remarked that the starting positions of individual countries in green transformation differ. These differences cannot be ignored, he said, if damage to the Slovak economy and exposure of Slovaks to energy poverty is to be avoided.
