National Crime Agency presses bribery charges against Central Bank Governor

An investigator from the National Crime Agency has charged Slovakia's central bank governor and ex-finance minister Peter Kazimir with bribery. Dennik N daily was the first to break the news. Kazimir’s lawyer Ondrej Mularcik has confirmed this for TASR, adding that the Central Bank governor denies any guilt and will file a complaint. "We view this as disrespecting a decision issued by the prosecutor-general, who had the original charges dropped," Mularcik has told TASR, adding that charges were pressed based on the same factual basis as a year ago. The Prosecutor-General's Office had charges of bribery against Peter K. dropped in June. According to the Office, the charges were pressed based solely on the testimony of one plea-bargain seeker, namely ex-Financial Administration head Frantisek Imrecze, and there were discrepancies in his claims.
