Foreign Minister: Russian invasion exposes dangers of dependency on non-democratic regimes

“The Russian aggression against Ukraine reminds us of the dangers of being dependent on non-democratic regimes”, the chief of Slovak diplomacy Rastislav Kacer declared during a summit of NATO foreign affairs ministers in Bucharest on Wednesday. "The Russian aggression against Ukraine puts a mirror in front of us. We have been given a painful but necessary lesson," said Kacer, adding that various hybrid threats clearly demonstrated the dangers of dependency on countries that do not share our values and worldviews. According to the Slovak Foreign Minister it is therefore important to diversify to the largest possible extent ties in the economy, energy, critical technologies and other security-delicate spheres. On the sidelines of the NATO summit, Kacer met with Romanian counterpart Bogdan Auresco and praised the Romanian aid for Ukraine, while reaffirming Slovakia's support for Romania's joining of the Schengen zone and the OECD.
