This is their second joint meeting since Steinmeier's re-election to the post in February 2022. They last met in April 2022 in Kosice."The topic of their conversation on Tuesday in Berlin's Bellevue Palace will be bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, also in the context of the 30th anniversary of the setting up of bilateral diplomatic relations," said the President's spokesperson Martin Strižinec, adding that President Steinmeier should also open a series of debates on how democracies can face the current challenges, to which he plans to regularly invite personalities from European political and social life. In the afternoon, the Slovak head of state is to receive the Schwarzkopf Europe Award in recognition of her courage in confronting organised crime, her promotion of the rights of minorities, particularly Roma, and an ecologically sustainable future.
