8x8 vehicles, howitzers, radars and tanks to be delivered to Slovakia in 2023

The first out of 76 8x8 armoured fighting vehicles should be delivered to the Slovak Armed Forces for inspection and military tests this year, the Slovak Defence Ministry reported. Furthermore, the delivery of the remaining 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks from Germany is also planned and at the end 2023. One has already been delivered to Slovakia last year. According to Martina Kakaščíková spokeswoman of the ministry, part of the 3D radars should also arrive. All 17 are to be in Slovakia by 2025.

The Ministry also has not ruled out the delivery of eight Zuzana 2 howitzers. The delivery will be the last of 25 howitzers ordered in 2018, whose delivery has been delayed due to both the pandemic and the Ukraine order.

The first F-16 fighter jets for Slovakia are also due to be completed in the US this year. "However, according to the current agreement, they should remain in the US for further training of our pilots and technicians, and the first F-16 Block 70s should be flown to Slovakia in the second quarter of 2024," Kakaščíková said.
