Slovakia in support of nuclear energy and innovation investment

Interim Premier Eduard Heger stated following his arrival for a two-day EU summit in Brussels on Thursday that he would push for more investment in innovation technologies in Slovakia and that he would support the inclusion of nuclear energy in "green infrastructure".
According to the prime minister, great emphasis will be put on competitiveness because the EU must focus on systematic solutions to the challenges that it faces in the world. This is an important topic for Slovakia, whose economy is based on the automotive industry, he said. When it comes to talks on energy, Heger wants to push for nuclear power to be part of strategic energy sources. Slovakia is highly dependent on nuclear energy and also invests a great deal in it.
Last but not least, Heger wants to make use of the summit to hold talks on the Euro 7 emission standards and the dispute over synthetic fuels for internal combustion engines. He claimed to advocate the creation of conditions for car manufacturers that will help them to develop their activities and without facing new restrictions.
