Parliament condemned the crimes committed against Ukrainian women and children

The National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic condemned the crimes committed against Ukrainian women and children. At the same time, it calls on the Prosecutor General of the Slovak Republic, Maroš Žilinka, to assess whether the forcible transfer of children from Ukraine to Russia does not constitute a crime of genocide. Following this, he should consider initiating criminal proceedings. This follows from the declaration adopted by the parliament on Tuesday.

"NR SR expresses extraordinary outrage at atrocities, including illegal deportations of women and children, who are taken against their will to the territory of the Russian Federation, where they face placement in detention camps, identity changes and other acts that may constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity ," the declaration states.
MPs are calling on the government to provide national assistance to Ukrainians in their efforts to fight impunity for crimes. At the same time, they demand that the government, in cooperation with other governments of the European Union, take all necessary steps in international institutions. The goal is to support the prosecution of Russian officials and all those responsible for committing the most serious crimes.

The NR SR declares its interest in helping Ukrainians with the investigation of the most serious crimes committed against the civilian population. It also calls on international organizations, especially the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to increase efforts to return deported persons to their families in Ukraine.

In the declaration, the parliament also calls on the Russian Federation to immediately stop the deportation of Ukrainian children and women and to return the deported persons to Ukraine, at the same time calling on Russia to "immediately stop the murder, rape and torture of the civilian population in Ukraine".
