President at the virtual Summit for Democracy

“We can't allow democracy to be sacrificed as the victim to current crises, we must protect and reinforce it, as democracy is the solution to the crises,” President Zuzana Caputova declared on Wednesday at the second virtual Summit for Democracy, hosted by US President Joe Biden. Caputova added that as a NATO and EU member, Slovakia contributes its share to the defence of democracy. In her speech, the President claimed that the Russian aggression in Ukraine poses a threat to global peace and democracy, adding that Slovakia is providing military aid to Kiev, so as to help Ukrainians defend their rights in line with the UN Charter. She underlined that the global support for Ukraine must continue as long as it's necessary. "It's our joint investment in peace and democracy."
