The development of cooperation between Slovakia and Brazil in the defence industry and the war in Ukraine were the fulcrum of Wednesday's talks between interim Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad and his Brazilian counterpart Jose Mucio. They met at the international 2023 LAAD Defence and Security expo in Rio de Janeiro. The positions of Slovakia and Brazil on the war in Ukraine are not really divergent. Jaroslav Nad voiced his appreciation for Brazil's effort to arrive at a peaceful solution in Ukraine. He pointed out that Brazil has condemned the Russian aggression and voted for all related resolutions in the UN despite its membership in the BRICS bloc. Slovakia harbours an interest in developing cooperation with Brazil in defence and security. The partners also discussed several specific projects, including an ongoing Brazilian tender for howitzers. Nad added that Slovakia might deliver 36 howitzers for the Brazilian military.
