The Defence Ministry has accepted an offer from the USA for Oshkosh 4x4 joint light tactical vehicles (JLTV), with Defence Minister Martin Sklenar signing a relevant agreement on Thursday. The ministry is set to receive a total of 160 JLTVs in two versions worth nearly $190 million. They will be paid for from a US fund. The vehicles are expected to be supplied during 2025.
As for the contract, it will include logistical support in the form of spare parts, service, training and documentation. The vehicles will be financed from the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) fund, within which the USA has allocated a total of $200 million for Slovakia. The Defence Ministry is set to pay 20 percent VAT in the procurement process.
