A group of 160 students from Trnava region was presented with the prestigious international Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE) in the hall of the Faculty of Education of Comenius University in Bratislava on Tuesday (October 1), DofE communications manager Denis Macor has informed TASR.
The event was held under the auspices of Trnava Region Authority. More than 1,850 bronze- and silver-level DofE participants from all eight regions of Slovakia will be awarded this year.
"In terms of the number of participants, we are at the level of countries such as Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. More than 7,300 young people are participating in all its three levels this year," said Macor.
The DofE is an international educational programme founded in 1956 by Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and husband of the late British Queen. More than a million young people from 130 countries, aged between 14-24, participate in it each year.
